  • Jan. 28th, 2008 at 6:24 AM

Well yesterday was kinda chaotic and therefore my resolution is now kinda blown.  I wonder if anyone ever actually keeps those resolutions?

Give Me Your Bar, Your Table, Your Couch

  • Jan. 24th, 2008 at 11:19 PM

So...this is yes yet another installment of As the Apartment Turns.

I know I talk about it a lot but let's face it...first off not that many people even bother to read this thing and second it's taking prime space in my life at the moment.

Anywho, John ([info]spacemangroove) and I are still looking for a hella huge and cheap dining room table and perhaps a buffet/bar and a couch for the new apartment.  We are watching money like whoa so please no suggestions of super expensive locales.

We did find a real deal on a dresser today at a thrift store that will be stripped and re-stained and it was only $30.  Now that's my kind of bargain.

FYI:  For those of you joining us at John Harvards to celebrate John's birthday...the reservations are for 6:30 pm on Saturday.  See you there!!

Hurt My Wrist...

Typing one handed isn't nearly as much fun when the other hand is writhing in pain instead of pleasure.

Thought for the Day

  • Jan. 22nd, 2008 at 11:59 PM

All non-profits should keep accurate financial records and not receipts written on the back of a piece of legal paper.

UGH!!

You can guess how I have been spending my evening.

Good night!

Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

  • Jan. 21st, 2008 at 6:04 PM

Today is about so much more than just a day off of work or school and here is a poem that I found that says things very well.

From www.RHLSchool.com

Martin Luther King, Jr.

You faced injustice, hate and strife.
You fought for what should be.
You risked and finally gave your life,
So others could be free.

You could have hated, but you chose
To love and understand,
Rejecting violence to oppose
An evil in our land.

You'd not inflame, but still inspire,
With hope that wouldn't yield.
You called for boycotts, not for fire,
With faith your only shield.

You marched in protest for the poor
Of every shade and hue.
So many hardships you'd endure
For those who needed you.

You stirred a nation's heart and mind;
Your message still is clear:
That color's not how we're defined.
Your memory's always near.

Each year your birth's a holiday.
The nation honors you,
And wonders when we'll see the day
Your dream at last comes true.

Too often we get caught in the moment and can't see past ourselves to see what the future will or can bring.  We all need to put our lives aside every once in a while and realize that there is so much more to life than the daily grind that happens day to day.  All of us allow stress from life integrate into our daily lives to the point of breaking.  There is so much more to life than those instances of disagreement or tension.  So next time you get caught up in your own life to the point of not being able to see the future...take a deep breath and think of Martin Luther King Jr., a man who had a dream for all of us, a man who didn't let life get in the way of him looking at the future.

Here is hoping that your day was full of meaning and hope for the future.

Freezing Temperatures

  • Jan. 20th, 2008 at 10:05 PM

So given this recent cold front, I've made up my mind...

I'm moving to a warmer climate.

It's Official!

  • Jan. 19th, 2008 at 10:58 PM

John and I put the security deposit down on the apartment and move-in day is slated for Saturday, February 2nd!!!

I know I've posted a lot lately about the new apartment but other than laundry, cold weather and the America's Next Top Model marathon...not a lot happened today.

Taking Minutes

  • Jan. 18th, 2008 at 9:36 PM

This week I had to go to 2 semi boring meetings for work and take minutes for both of them.

Needless to say I don't feel like writing much.  So this is an entry dedicated to writing and it's ability to make me laugh.

This post has been edited because I don't know how to do an LJ cut.
